It All Started With A Surprise!
We started our journey of love for miniature horses in 2003. Dan had a surprise 60th birthday party for Linda complete with two miniature horses as her gift.
The whole family and friends knew about the surprise and were all hiding in the garage when Linda and her Mom, Dot Goodson, returned home from a day-long outing. The garage door went up and everyone shouted surprise! Linda was in shock. Why are they having a birthday party for me in June when my birthday is in September?
Dan decided to have the party early because her Mom and Step-Dad Jack were visiting from Arizona and grandchildren Jessica and Jeffrey were visiting from Florida at the time.
Dan told Linda to go to the back yard because there was more to see. There were tents set up and lots of food ready to eat. Dan said wait a minute because he was going to get something else for me to see. Well, the big surprise was two yearling miniature horses! Linda was in shock. All she could say was “I can’t believe he bought me horses!!” The funny thing was Linda had said just a day before in a conversation with friends, “My horse manure shoveling days are over.” Those listening just about croaked because they all knew what was about to take place.
I told Dan that he sure started something. We were going to breed and show. That is exactly what we have been doing ever since.
