Winter Blessings

As I trod through the snow with the wind stinging my cheeks, my mind is on the mini horses who await my arrival at the barn.

They are such a joy - so spirited and beautiful even in their long winter coats.  I am always greeted with many whinnies.  My heart is warmed.  The labors of the barn are really a joy, a time of peace and quiet reflection.  My family and I are truly blessed.

Oh Those Beautiful Foals

The eleven months are almost up.  I anticipate so many things in the arrival of our new foals.  Will they be spotted or solid, male or female?  What beautiful color will they be painted?  One thing I know for sure, they are surely a miracle of God's creation.

THE LAZY DAYS OF SUMMER

As I sit here on my deck looking out at my beautiful world, I remember how I longed for summer and the cool respite of a shade tree.  No getting up in the morning and rushing off to school.

Those days are long gone.  Much longer than I would like to admit.

Now my summers are filled with caring for the horses I adore.  Feeding, grooming and preparing for horse shows.  There isn't much time for being lazy, as any horse owner can attest to.

There has been a little bump in my life that says, you must sit in the shade of a tree again.  Just for a little while.  It's a time to reflect, a time to wish I was cleaning the barn and back at it.  Only those of us who own horses can understand this feeling.

May God's grace shine upon you while you recall your lazy days of summer too.

The lazy days of summer are a nice place to visit, but I don't want to live there forever.
